Regular/standard brown cardboard is not an issue. I use it sometimes with my rabbits in my nest boxes and even toss it into my compost after it has been shredded. Cardboard with a glossy smooth finish is probably not advisable.

If she's on the ground and downwind, I'm sure 20 ft would be fine; further if she is kept higher. You just need to visualize a sneeze in a strong or swirling wind and go from there.
