    What's the deal with pasteurella?

Always always ALWAYS quarantine new rabbits away from existing stock, and take care of them last. I'm so sad today. Went out to feed and all was fine until I got to the mini rex group I got a couple weeks ago and paid handsomely for. Two of the does were sneezing with white snot, so I culled...

Think i'm throwing in the towel....

I really empathize with your situation. It wasn't until about a year ago that I got to move out of a situation that was exactly as you describe. Houses packed together like sardines in a can. I looked out any of my windows, and right into a neighbor's window, they were that close. People all...

    Rabbit droppings

Wish I had room for rabbit poo on our lawn. The darn deer have beat them to it. I swear, can't take a step without stepping in a big pile. For now, I'm hauling dirty bedding and poop out to the compost pile with my little garden wagon. I'm turning things in, and hoping for some...

Target weight chart for the midrange breeds?

Yep, not that I have any inclination to ever set foot into a rabbit show. But I don't understand what exactly that has to do with an ideal growth rate for for the smaller breed meat rabbit kits from week to week? Today was the week six weigh-in, and all six totalled 8 pounds, ten ounces. I...

Northwest cage company is fantastic if you need cages, and they'll even bring any special orders with them for you. Definitely shoot me a PM before you go, as I'd love some new FW blood myself.

I wanted this to be a Happy New Moggie post!

Bless her sweet little heart. Great news. :bouncy:

Why did you decide to raise meat rabbits?

I raised them as a child, and now as an adult they were the first additions I thought of when we bought our homestead. I've got ten acres lying unused this winter, but I got a garage full of bunnies. :P Who can't fall in love with rabbits? They're tasty, their furs can provide warmth...

    The BarnCats Take a Drive!

Three of those guys could pass for ragdolls. Pretty kitties. If you get some extras, send a couple over my way. :P

She's gorgeous. Fingers crossed the flea collar was the issue, and that she's able to recover quickly.

How do you guys store hay?

I have two dozen stacked in the garage, on pallets to keep it off the ground in case we get water in there. Before I had this many rabbits, I was buying a bale at a time, and using a canvas bale bag to keep things neat and tidy. It's just like it sounds, a canvas bag big enough to hold an...

    Feed bill

I'd love to have some more, but I think you might be a bit too far away. :( If anyone's got a trailer and is within a decent driving distance of a feed mill, you might be able to get a good deal if you go load up. I'm paying just under $13 a bag for Pfau's feed, and I pick it up straight from...

Target weight chart for the midrange breeds?

I wish it was each! Weighed them today, their week 5 weigh-in, and the total weight for all six of them was 6 pounds, 4.10 ounces. 3mina, let me know when you're ready. I don't do shows, but am always happy to meet up somewhere.

    Refresh me on rex please?

Rex is recessive, so two normal appearing rex carrier siblings crossed would give you a 1 in 4 shot for each baby to be a visual rex. Visual rex (parent) to offspring (rex carrier, normal appearing), will give you a 50/50 shot for each baby to be a visual rex.

    Snake food

Give this site a try with an ad. http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/index.php? Make sure you put it in the feed and feeders for sale section. It's mostly reptile folks, but it's at least a lead that won't be flagged by the extremists. Wish my balls were big enough to eat bunnies. I'm...

    Winter observation and lesson

Retired interstate freight relocation engineer here, too. :D Thanks for the tip! I'm starting to design my various little critter houses and will remember this tip for sure. No way I'm going out in Montana winters without some heavy work gloves.

    got my tree up today.

A beautiful scene. I love folks who aren't afraid of a little color on their walls, too.

Target weight chart for the midrange breeds?

I've scoured the internet, but all I can find is goal weights for new zealand sized kits. Anyone got some numbers for the smaller guys? My litter of 6 FWs weighed 4 pounds at four weeks, and I plan to weigh them weekly here on out. Trying to find out where on the spectrum my little guys...

Using Deer Food Plot seed to grow greens for rabbbits.

Question for those of you who grow greens and then dry and store them. How do you store the harvest until use? I'm looking into doing a feed plot for the bunnies since I got a coupon for 50lbs of any mix one of the local mills makes, but am unsure on what to do with my excess once it's dried...

making offer on house....I believe its ours! added pics...

Check the covenants and town ordinances. If you can legally have those animals and you take care of them, there isn't much grouchy neighbors can do. Sorry you've got lousy weather to be packing in, but at least you've got this to keep your spirits lifted. :)
