young new zealand red buck

I was born in Florida and now live in Missouri. I am so happy now to actually go through the seasons. In Florida there is only 2, Summer and Fall :D I guess Missouri is perfect for me, warm Summers, and Winters just pleasingly cold

Yep, just for meat. And they all look healthy to me. There is one "runt". He doesn't look unhealthy just a tad bit smaller. But his body weight ratio looks good.

    I found Kudzu

I, being a person who wants to be a chef one day, found the culinary aspects of kudzu very interesting. I didn't know it was so versatile :D

__________ Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:41 pm __________

Does anyone know if rabbits can OD on kudzu? Meaning can I feed em too much of the stuff?

    Duckweed

I have my duckweed growing in a little rabbit maure (in water of course). I've heard of people burning it if done with chicken manure, no surprise there. But the rabbit manure seems to be doing the job fine. And Miss M I get it now... just as an additive. That very well could be done then.

Nope, no pictures yet. I haven't wanted to spend a bunch of time with them so when it comes time to do the "deed" it won't be as difficult. I do have a question though. The litter in conversation here was and accident... oops. Yeah well I bought four "does" from a local NZW meat breeder. Well...

6 week update... all bunnies are still alive! I'm happy to say that from my first "meat" litter I (I guess I should say she) haven't lost one single bunny! :D

    Duckweed

I found some duckweed the other day. I'm growing it in a bucket at the moment until I decide what to do with it. I had plans on growing it in some kiddie pools with screens over the top (to keep the dogs and bugs out). But unless some kind of rack to "stack" the kiddie pools on, one atop the...

    Springfield, Mo

I'm not going to enter anything... Just checking out the local rabbit scene and hopefully pick up some new breed stock. I plan on opeing a small rabbitry. I want to breed mostly NZR's and Cali's. And hopefully within the next year track down some American's. I breed meat stock for the family but...

    I found Kudzu

Miss M... if you too live in Louisiana I wouldn't bother with growing it... just go start ripping in down :D

__________ Wed Jun 06, 2012 10:23 am __________

I have been toying with the idea of growing it on string trellises, with the base in buckets, so when it comes time...

    I found Kudzu

If your location is right, Louisiana, I can almost promise you that you look at it everyday and don't realize it. Maybe someone can post a pic of it?

    Springfield, Mo

Has anyone ever been to the ARBA rabbit show in Springfield, Mo? I've never been, never even knew they had one. I'm gonna try and go, but I just kinda wanted to see if anyone had personal experience.

    I found Kudzu

I'm not really sure that its common knowledge that it was brought here from another country ,Asia I think, as livestock feed. But I do believe that if people would just use it for what it was first intended for, that it wouldn't be the catostrophic problem that it is today. That being said, now...

    I found Kudzu

Well I lived in the deep south for 18 years and it is truely insane what the weed has done to the place. It grows uncontrollably fast. Thats why my last thread ended with me deciding not to bring it here to Missouri. Little did I know that it was already here. It is nowhere near the problem it...

    I found Kudzu

Way back a couple of months ago I asked if anyone had ever grown Kudzu or fed it to their rabbits. Well the general feeling towards it was that it was way to invasive to fool with. Well when I asked my question none of the leaves in my area had grown back from winter yet... they are green now...
