Raw Rabbit Meat for Dogs

My little guy is raw fed. He's a coondog mix and weighs 23#. I'll admit that my feeding style is very relaxed. I don't measure anything. He gets any kits that don't make it, heads and feet when I butcher, chicken heads, feet and necks when I butcher, free range eggs from my chickens...

    Worm bed finally finished...

I really like that set up! I've been using tarps to divert waste into buckets for building raised beds, but the tarps get nasty really fast, even with rinsing. I'm looking forward to setting up worm bins under my cages. Your frames look good.

    babies!

Thank you! She divided them into 2 nests today, and as long as she's feeding them, I'm going to let her keep them. I won't have a foster for a week, when two does are due. I hadn't thought about keeping daughters from this litter, I bred them for the freezer. It's a good idea, though...

    babies!

I've resigned myself to being covered in rabbit hair, lol! I have 5 litters right now, and I touch them every day to make sure they're all alive, and because they're babies! :bunnyhop: It's all still new to me, today's litter is only the 6th litter born in my barn that didn't get lost to...

    babies!

My Satin cross meat doe just kindled 15! 14 live, 1 stillborn. I walked into the barn just as she was cleaning up, and helped her tuck them into the nest. She had most of them in the front of the nestbox. I'm so surprised by 15! Her last litters have been 7 and 8. I bred her to my American...

    Copper, Red and Himalayan Satins

I drank too much coffee yesterday and couldn't sleep, so I spent my time attempting to predict color outcomes. I compared each doe with each buck, and looked at some linebreeding, too. I have no idea if what I've figured is accurate. I really want Red Satins, and I thought if I could figure...

    vermicomposting (worm beds) using RabbitPoo!

I had a worm factory, and I loved it. I got rid of it when I moved. If I was going to replace it, homemade sounds great. I like that your trays are small. The trays in my worm factory were really heavy when they were finished.

Looking for breeding stock Am. Blue, Am. Chin, Lilac near CO

I moved out of Colorado last October. As far as I know, the closest American breeder is in Kansas. There is a breeder map on the BAR website, and there is also an American Rabbit yahoo group. Maybe you can arrange transport to get rabbits brought closer to you? I don't know if the drift is...

    Rotisserie Rabbit?

Actually, I thought I might try dipping the rabbit in scalding water and pulling most of the fur. Chicken feathers come out pretty easy when you dip them, tedious as it is. Any fur that's left could be singed off.

__________ Thu Feb 09, 2012 4:41 pm __________

I was...

    Rotisserie Rabbit?

Has anyone ever cooked rabbit on a rotisserie? If so, did you cook it with or without skin?

    vermicomposting (worm beds) using RabbitPoo!

Worms like dark and damp, and they will retreat from light and dryness. The details and logistics will differ depending on your setup, but for a home sized bin, my teacher uses her kitchen floor, which is linoleum, and just mops up afterwards. You could also use a baby pool, a tarp or similar...
