    Ticks....

Just caught an American Chinchilla, not sure how or why it was out running around or for how long, but it has ticks. I can remove them the old fashioned way (tweezers) but was wondering if there is a better way so that I don't miss some. Did some Googleing, but figured I would ask the experts 8-)

Do they always kick and fall off?

Tried the other buck today, still no joy. I tried to help by lifting the tail, and they didn't seem to take the hint..... Oh well, will try again tomorrow.

Do they always kick and fall off?

and if not what to do? I was able to get two NZ bucks and have tried to breed them today. One of them kicks and falls over like I was told they would when done, the other hasn't. He makes a valiant effort, but I am trying to decide whether or not to give him another chance tomorrow, or just put...

    Buck died....

Unless she just turned aggressive, then she wasn't. I had bred her a couple times before to him, and she was always fairly easy going about it. She never took, and we assumed it was due to the heat. Maybe this last time she got aggressive because he wasn't being succesfull? lol jk.

    Buck died....

I was planning to basicaly this. I was going to keep a good looking doe from the first litter, and then try to find a Cali buck. I think 5 rabbits is the most I can get away with having on a permanent basis so 3 does and two bucks was the plan. Oh well, I kept them all alive through the...

    Buck died....

Well, I had not been able to get my does bred. Last month after the does once again came up not expecting, I tried to re breed them. I put my older mature doe in with him, but he showed no interest in her at first. He started to act a bit interested, but as soon as he started sniffing her she...

About to give up and eat the buck.....

So, I know that before the summer my buck fathered at least one successful litter, and my doe has had 3-4 litters per year before I got her. I bred my older doe to him in August and got nothing. Bred him again to my older doe, and the younger one in late September. Still nothing... We had a very...

    My rabbits!

Thanks! I am definitely not in a hurry to replace her, I was just under a mistaken impression I guess.

    My rabbits!

Well, I re bred the broken doe. I am guessing the heat had gotten to the buck, hopefully all is well this time.

    Opinions on this Hutch

    Opinions on this Hutch

This is kinda what I am thinking about building. I may put windows or something in the side, so that in the heat of summer I can get additional airflow. I like this design for several reasons, one being that I can easily put a tarp or some cover over the front if we get some hard blowing...

    My rabbits!

The lady I bought her from said she was just downsizing, and that she was a proven mother, usually with 10-12 per litter.

    My rabbits!

I have resting boards for them, they are only in one of the pics though. Is there a specific size that they need to be? My next hutch will be much better, I built this one out of scraps, next one will be all new materiel, with some lessons learned. The broken NZ is only going to be replaced...

    My rabbits!

Here are my rabbits. The hutch they are in was fine to get them through summer, but I am hoping to build a new one with two rows of 3 cages. This is my NZ buck. My NZ Doe And my older NZ/Cali doe. I plan to replace the mixed doe with one of the does from her litter, which I am hoping is...
