Remember the aviary I was considering using as a colony pen or something? Well, I nixed that idea, and took it apart. I now have two 3' x 7' panels, two 3' x 4' panels, and the one 4' x 8' has been turned into a cage already! Well, two 4' x 4's, actually. I'm not sure what, if anything, I am going to do with the panel with the door in it. :hmm:
There was some minimal rust, so I bought Rust-oleum and spray painted it, both with primer and a top coat. I think it looks really nice, and it should last a lot longer.
I am not sure what I want to do for roofing, so as a temporary solution I made tarps out of feed bags, using my handy-dandy grommet kit! They are attached at the rear with twist ties (we keep forgetting to buy zip ties when we go to town- dang it!) and at the front I attached S- hooks to the cage doors so I can easily fold the tarp back if the bunnies need sun during cool/cold weather.
So without further ado, here it is:
Here are the residents enjoying the morning's buffet:
Here is the original growout cage (on the left) and the second one I built on the right. Bucks are in the lefthand cage, does in the right:
I now have two cages for bucks, and two for does. When the others get built I will be able to further separate them by those to keep, sell, or eat. I have enough panels to make six more good-sized cages, so hopefully crowding will not be an issue!
