I purchased a registered brood doe at a show recently. I want to breed her to a nice buck (if I can find one). I have made a contact or two on some stud bucks, nothing solid. How do most people handle the stud rabbit thing? I don't mind paying a stud fee and I really just want to take my doe to a buck, have him do his thing, and bring her on back. Just want to know what rabbit breeders expect when approached with "can I use your buck as a stud for my doe?". Do you put stuff like this in the 'wanted' forum?

I would think a lot of breeders would be leary of studding out their buck due to the possibility of spreading or picking up disease. I would offer my buck as a stud only if I knew the person and their rabbitry well.

Could you consider getting a buck of your own? That way you could have as many litters as you like.

i dont think many breeders stud out their bucks due to the risk of bringing disease into their herd. I wish you the best of luck finding someone to do this if that is what you are wanting.

If it was me,I'd find a nice buck to go with that nice brood doe. You might get a lovely doe, out of that litter, that you might want to breed back to the buck to further your line.

Just curious, why don't you want a buck? You could have him as stud and could also, when he's not "studding" show him?

Few will stud a buck. Too many health risks and complications with whether the doe takes or not. I've never had a doe bred at someone else's place and then driven home take so I refuse to pay extra for bred does anymore. Those that do stud will probably charge the same amount it would cost you to buy your own good buck.

I will not breed outsides does.Only 4H who bought does from me get stud service.its free too 4H.
