okay, had to see if a small tree I bumped into this morning was a Spring blooming Witch Hazel, and in my explorations, found that witch hazel is edible, and can be used as a blood stopper!! (A cotton ball dipped in 'witch hazel water", applied to small wopunds will stop the bleeding) So,, aside from it's astringent properties, it can also be used as a styptic!

and the small duckweed-Lemna Minor, is starting to show up on one of the ponds already!! gonna go out later today or tomorrow and get some fo the water garden!!
I thought I found some yarrow, but when I went to dig it up, looks like I have a fern, instead,,,not a very good basal rosette, and the tiniest fiddleheads I have ever seen...

I Am thinking I got some sort of fern-- that is okay-- will fit into the water garden set up!!! The plant also seems to be lacking that very important basal rosette.
