Well, it's getting cold here in Ontario, down below freezing most nights now. My hands seem to freeze quicker each winter and I really need to make sure I wear gloves outside when I'm out doing the chores. This lead me to an observation that I admittedly noticed last year but somehow it didn't register in my peabrain: When building coops and animal enclosures, use latch hardware big enough to be able to open and close with gloves on. It's counterproductive to go out with nice warm gloves on and have to take them off each time I open or close the coops or rabbit enclosure.

Just thought I would throw that out there.... even an old truck driver can learn something new every once in a while...

Retired interstate freight relocation engineer here, too. :D

Thanks for the tip! I'm starting to design my various little critter houses and will remember this tip for sure. No way I'm going out in Montana winters without some heavy work gloves.

I just use horseback riding gloves. They are designed to allow for a fine grip on the reins but use thinsulate material for down to subzero temps.
