my dwarf rabbit has a strange looking spot in her eye, that looks exactly like the one in this picture:

she spends almost all of her time in my backyard except when it's too cold or hot. could it be a parasite?

when I take her to the vet, any idea what kind of costs I can expect to incur?

Thank you

I haven't ever seen anything like that, but I did have a rabbit about twenty years ago that developed what looked like a cataract in her eye. It was Pasteurella, and the only treatment was removal of the eye, which would have been over $600.

If the spot appears to be on the surface of the eye, it may just be an abrasion which would likely be treated with an opthalmic ointment. In that case, you are looking at an office call, staining of the eye to assess the extent of the injury, and the ointment to treat it- so probably around $100.

treat her with some ivermectin. Looks to me at this angle to be e.cunnculi that migrated to the eye (as opposed to the brain causing wry neck). do this twice over two weeks and it should clear up.
