I need to locate about 15 qty. 32-oz water bottles for rabbits really inexpensive. I've posted "Wanted" ads on Craigslist in various areas, but no luck.

Anyone know of an inexpensive place to get bottles (plastic would be best)?

Local Walmart $3.68 (total with tax $58.51)
Bass Equipment (total with shipping $77.75)

I'd really like to only spend $1 or $2 per bottle if possible.

I tried some 2 liter soda bottles but they leak like crazy so that doesn't seem to be an option.

HELP................ :all-ears:

Amazon has a 6 pack of lixits pretty cheap and for the most part they don't leak. We just have 1 out of 6 that is temperamtal. I would have to get the link off my computer.

Yes please post the link. Thank you.

Thanks for the link......... Unfortunately that works out to $4.94 each before shipping (whatever that would cost).

I can get them for $4.99 at my local farm store................. but I don't want to pay that much. I was hoping only up to $3 max (for new).

Would love to somehow locate someone that wants to unload theirs for $30 bucks.

I got lucky earlier in the year and found someone that sold me 13 bottles for $3 bucks............ but that's a once in a lifetime deal I guess.

That looks right but I know we got them cheaper. No more than $15. Maybe there's another vendor or they are a smaller size. It would be on my husband's account and he's not online. I know of cheaper bottles but it's pointless because whatever doesn't leak right away will within a year. I was ready to just put everyone on bowls because we had wasted tons of money on all sorts of bottles with a range of prices.

All the ones I purchased from walmart leaked. :(

Everything from walmart leaks. I have heard but don't know if it's true that walmart makes deals with companies to substitute cheaper materials but keep the same name on it so they can sell it at less or make more.

What I love are my glass lixits. They are high quality and never leak. Fancy price tag though and not possible to use in weather below freezing but most bottles freeze the tube then anyway. We had lever valve top fill lixits and after a couple years they are mostly leaking. We could probably fix those because you can tighten the connection back down and clean out the lever tube but eh, too much work and tools only to do it again in a couple years. Every brand I used to buy that was good quality has failed us this year. All the new versions just don't match up to 5-10years ago. We actually had 3 critter canteen lids crack when putting them on. I had critter canteens from 2009 that were still functional and didn't leak. The new stuff is junk.

If you want to try cheap bottles I suggest klubbertanz http://www.klubertanz.com/images/Klubertanz_Pg30-31.pdf
If that link works... Otherwise go to the main site, browse the catalog, and there is a section for water bottles.

You get a bulk discount if you buy a certain amount at Klubertanz, the LiXt water bottles are great.

My best bottles were all acquired free or cheap from rabbitry sell-outs. Maybe keep an eye on the classifieds?

Thanks for the tip. But where do I find "classifieds"? We no longer really have a newspaper in our around our area. I use Craigslist a lot, and have "alerts" set on my phone for anything with "rabbit" or "cage" on craigslist........ but where else can I keep my eye on?

Thanks.

-- Tue Aug 19, 2014 6:08 pm --

Thanks! Only $3.10 each but there is no way to find out shipping costs. I called the 1-800 number and no one answers. DARN!!!

Have you used Hoobly? Not all states have many rabbit adds, but it seems like your in luck! Your state has more rabbit adds than any other (except OH) :)

Have you thought about using 320Z or two liter soda bottles?
You can purchase the sipper tubes and caps through most
rabbit Catalogs. I suggest Bass Equipment.
purchase in lots of 12 or more for a cheaper price.

Thanks for the idea. We did try some 2 liter bottles with caps off our 32 ounce bottles. Unfortunately they leaked out the end that the rabbit drinks. The caps screwed on the 2 liter bottles fine (at least I think so). We just can't have 2 liter bottles that make the drinking tube leak..... wonder if that is from the force/weight of the water in the 2 liter bottles????

I'd hate to purchase some of those tubes/caps you suggested just to find out that they leak as well.

Thank you.

Somewhere I believe a solution to that leaking was posted. Basically "wrapping" the circumference of the bottle with spare wire mesh so it could not collapse out of round (and so maintain the vacuum required to prevent leakage). For the life of me I cannot remember WHERE I read that.

Wow. I would love to find that thread!!!!!!!!!!! I'll try to do a search. If anyone knows where it's at please post the link. Thank you!

When you call Klubertanz, let it ring until they pick up.
Not working or advertising for them, but I've been to their location and they are a family owned business that operates behind a house. I can see tons of spools of galvanized wire in one of the buildings and I know where to get my next pre-built cages now.
