Our babies are 5days old today and doing really well so far at what age do you wean them off the mother or doesshe wean them? Whats The best way to do it?

Weaning typically happens between 4 and 8 weeks.

I wean as close to 8 weeks as possible, and I just move the kits or the doe into a different cage.

Some of my does have weaned naturally as early as 5-6 weeks, and some are still nursing at 9 or 10 weeks.
Just depends on the doe, but all will wean on their own eventually.

I had one doe who got annoyed with her kits around 6 weeks. You could tell. She would try to get in a corner as far from them as possible. Most does, however, don't mind having them around until at least 8 weeks. These does are usually stretched out, relaxed, with kits climbing over them, and still sleeping away. Some people take the biggest two or three out first for a week, and then remove the smaller ones. I generally just take them all out at 7-8 weeks.

I have a litter that was seven weeks yesterday. The doe has been mounting the kits so she was moved to her own cage last night.
