The title says it all! ;)

Fed pellets, coastal hay and a handful of grass and weeds per day.

It should weight closer to 6 pounds. If it is a male should weight .5 more.

Right, which is why I said at LEAST....mine get to 5lbs at about 9wks so they are over 6lbs by 12...

The New Zealand is one of the basic rabbits you'd see in meat pens. The SOP states at week 10 minimum of 3 lbs. and a maximum of 5 lbs. That is based on 10 weeks of age thou. So at 12 weeks 4 1/2-6 lbs would be ideal.

Right! I am taking 10 to the farm swap this sat. so am going to get the bathroom scale out and weigh some of them.

I have a 10 1/2 week old litter adn a 12 week old litter so can see what the difference between them is. I can SEE a difference in size still but its disapearing fast.

Shall be keeping the biggest doe from this batch and a record of the weights to compare against the next matching with my new REW buck.

Record keeping is a bit of a weak spot but am working REALLY HARD to master it.

I need a jacket too!

So far I've been pretty good with bunny records- although I sometimes have to get the birth dates of litters from my RT posts, so I can mark my cage cards!

That counts, you've recorded it somewhere

LOL me, too. I started a rabbit book and wrote EVERYTHING down for the first few months.... then less... then started writing in breeding dates a week after the event..... got to work a little harder on that stuff!

How about temperature in relationship to 12 wk weight?
Has anyone seen much of a weight drop in the 12 wk olds in extreme heat?

Well, they didnt sell very well today at the swap but I was dead chuffed with them when I weighed them this morning.

The 10 and a half week olds were four and a half pounds and the 11 and a half week olds were five pounds and a bit. Even allowing for the vagaries of a bathroom scale I was MOST pleased!

And that was with 13 in the grow out pen and the really high temps lately.

Shall be keeping the meatiest doe - now named Meat Brick - and having a few for dinner this week and then trying the next farm swap to see if a few more will sell.
