I am kind of curious what might be wrong with my doe. I notice about a week or two ago that she had diarrhea so I decided to get her away from the other bunnies just incase she was sick with something. Well I got to thinking maybe she got the diarrhea from just being feed oats from the feed store that you buy for chickens and other animals. My dad was helping me take care of them and gave her a feeder full of oats when it was really cold the few days. She is th type of rabbit that doesn't eat everything you put into her feeder. Well when I would go out everyday to feed the bunnies I noticed she was eatting but only eatting a little. She would just stay in her box filled with straw and would barely come out and when she did she would come out for a few then go right back to her box. I kind of figured maybe its because she doesn't like the cold weather. Well since I've had her inside she hasn't had diarrhea but that could because she has only been eatting hay since I've had her inside. She actually seems to be happier to be inside out of the cold. I've noticed though when I clean her cage out that there is some weird looking poop in the bottom. I am wondering if this is normal or was I right and she is sick with something. I have some pics of it but they are really good but might help though. Also I want to start feeding her pellets again. Is it ok to just start giving her them again or should I only give her a little bit each day since she has been off of them for a week or two. Also why is she grunting at me? Every time I try to pick her up she will grunt and some times try to bite. She has never done this before. I was wondering if its her way of saying she wants to breed since she has never been bred before.

The grunting and biting may be due to puberty. How old is she?
Breeding her might settle her down, or make her MUCH worse. I've had does who were pretty calm and just grunting at me...who turned completely psycho and out-for-blood after delivering the kits.
If she a rabbit you picked up for breeding, you might breed her to see if she settles. If she's a pet, I'd recommend not chancing it.

From here, her poops look like uneaten cecotropes. (really loose ones...)
It suggests her diet is too rich. The easiest cure is more grass hay and less oats. If she were mine, I'd wait for her poops to firm up before re-introducing pellets.

Watch her close and make sure she keeps eating and pooping.

Well other the that being in the bottom of her cage twice her poop is normal and hard. So I shouldn't worry about it then. Its normal.

And I did want to breed her because my niece wants to get into 4h when she is older. She wants to show rabbits. So what I wanted to do is breed her and let my niece show the kits if they come out showable.

-- Wed Dec 03, 2014 11:56 pm --

Also once I start feeding her pellets again how much should I start giving her?
