It has been puzzling me for the longest time because some of my rabbits look blue and others are blue with a rosy sheen.
So what is the difference?

You can get otters/martens that are in between agouti and self. They lack any banded hairs and tend to be a different color along the edges of the ears and the eye circles depending what they are but they still have those markings and the different colored belly. Self are essentially one solid color but a few patterns can impact self like rabbits with dark points (sable, himi... ) can still be self and usually are. They will not have the agouti or otter pattern. Torts are the self version of agouti red/orange.
