The doe has a decent topline, looks to be well filled and smooth. She does have a bit of length to that midsection. She has nice depth of body. A bit of length to her shoulders as well and a tad low, but looks to slope into them well. A tad long in the ear. Overall she looks like a balanced doe. Fur looks decent. If she's an older proven brood doe, you could do far worse, she has some nice qualities.

The buck is quite long in the midsection, and quite long in the shoulders. He looks a bit over-conditioned which is probably not helping his case any. He is also long in the ear, which gives the impression that he lacks in the depth of body department. His coat leaves something to be desired. For a herd buck I would keep looking.

The Blue is a keeper, a definite purchase. The buck on the other hand. It is tuff judging by just one side photo. But if that supports your thoughts, then I would go with the purchase of the doe.

I like the Buck muck better than the Doe.
The Doe is quite narrow and long in type, she may not ever fill out.
As always. JMPO.
Ottersatin. :eek:ldtimer:

agree with Otter and Sky.... That doe is long and rangy, her ears are not balanced with her size/topline. The buck looks a lot better but because he is a buck and a large influence on the entire herd, I would pass on him. He has those shoulder issues and seems to be a larger animal as well.

If you could fold those ears over to see if they go past the nose, it would be helpful. Those ears are too big for a mini rex. From looking at this pict, he looks like a young standard rex, because he seems too big for a proper sized mini rex. Of course assuming you are trying to get a mini rex that conforms to the SOP.

the doe is narrow and a bit hollow over the hips. the buck is flat in his arch, and has yuck fur. They are both too long for ears. Did you weigh them? they look huge. you don't want them over 4 pounds. I would pass on both. There is much better stock out there.
