What might I breed to sable points to get showable colors?

We are planning to try these sometime soon.

The 2 are sable point does, the 1 is a cream buck.

Do you think they will make nice looking kits?

Actually those are 2 himilayan rabbits with red/pink eyes (__ __ ch_ __ __) and not sable points with brown eyes (aa __ cchl_ __ ee)

And you will likely get chestnuts, and some broken chestnuts as I think the doe on the left is broken.

The dark color in their ears and nose has pretty much faded away. Is this normal???? Will it come back??? Why did it happen????

Thank you.

Has it been hot recently? Some colours (eg himalayan, shaded and tort) are temperature sensitive. The points (nose, ears, tail and feet) are darker because they are naturally colder. When the ambient temperature is high, new hair growth comes in lighter so the coloured areas shrink and/or lighten. When the ambient temperature is low, new growth comes in darker and the coloured areas grow and/or darken. For the same reason, these colours tend to be light at birth and then darken (because it is very warm in the womb and cooler in the nest).

Yes it has been hot recently........ 80's and near 90.

The colors were nice and dark in the pictures above when they were still only a few months old. Now (5 months later) almost all the color is gone. :(

Will the dark color in the nose and ears ever come back, and if it does will it stay?

__________ Fri Jul 31, 2015 6:29 am __________

Bump.

Still wondering if these bunnies will get their dark color back on their ears and nose?

Thank you.
