I found these rabbits offered free on craigslist. The lady offering them thought she had two females - you know the story ... she didn't even know what breed they were. I was thinking Broken Black New Zealand? What do you think?

They look a bit 'racy' like an English spot to be broken black NZ but they are young so it is possible.

What are your plans for them? Does the breed really matter?

Hi UnlabeledMama!

:welcomewagon:

The markings make me think English Spot is a possibility, or even Checkered Giant. They have the butterfly on the nose, eye and cheek spots, colored ears, a strip of color down the spine, and in Checkereds, spots on the rear flanks, while English Spot have scattered small spots along the sides. Their markings are not up to the standard for either breed, but they do have elements of the pattern.

Do you have any idea of their age and current weight?

To me they don't look racy enough to be purebred, but maybe they are mixed with a meat type rabbit.

They certainly are a pretty pair of rabbits!

:congratulations:
