I know there are MANY experts here so I thought I would ask you........... What breed of rabbit is this? Also is the color a black otter?

I know it's female and just over 1 year old. It's only about 4 lbs at most.

Thank you!

Where did you get it? If not from a breeder of purebreds it could be anything. Breeders for petstores, aucions, and just for the odd fun litter mix all the small breeds in to mashes of different body types and color to then list as "dwarf" rabbits to people. Various lops, dutch, netherland dwarf that are nothing like the show quality version, hotots... are all crossbred to make a pretty unspecific looking small rabbit.

:yeahthat: It could be a Netherlands Dwarf but is not a show quality or even a brood quality animal IMHO, however the rabbit has a very long face which I see more often in non dwarf Holland lop crosses, at least in my neck of the woods :) so I think the bun is possibly a mix of these two.

You are correct that the colour is black otter.

The eyes and roundness of body make me think Netherland Dwarf, the ears Holland Lop, and flatter face polish....it could be a mix of one or all of those or some thing else entirely. Cute pet, but not for show breeding.

She reminds me a lot of my American Tan rabbit. Tans have very glossy shiney black fur and always otter pattern markings. Yours looks like what I imagine a netherland dwarf cross American Tan would look like.
