So today I cleaned the buns cage. Well, I noticed some strange liquid. It almost looked like thin spaghetti sauce. But nope, it was pee.

Any ideas what would cause reddish pee? No injuries as far as I can tell. They're ~16 weeks old, live indoors. Free fed pellets & hay. Sometimes get a snack (grape, carrot, kale) but not often. No signs of illness. Both look fine. Don't know which one peed it. Both does who live together. Have fought before but very minimally - any injuries is just lost fur. Only seen them fight 3 times since getting them at 7 weeks, and it wasn't ever intense (like I said, the only injuries is just lost fur.).

I'm having a mild feak out since I'm pretty sure rabbits aren't supposed to have red pee...

Rabbits pee rainbows. Sometime just weather changes seem to cause it or very small diet amendments. Red is most common. It does make it hard to tell when they do have bloody urine but it's very rare that they do and quite common that they decide to pee harmless rainbows.

Thanks so much. I just googled and it looks this might be because today they went the entire day without water due to not checking their water bottle correctly. I think ill just switch back over to an open source.

They're indoor rabbits so I don't think it is the weather.

And haha I love the way you describe it. Peeing in rainbows.

Usually domestic rabbits only pee a range of yellow, brown, and red but wild rabbits eating certain things pee blue. It's sometimes seen in the snow and it's a bright obvious blue. A few have seen patches more green.
