Has anyone used the vinyl coated wire flooring? I know Bass and Klubertanz sell it, just curious about using it for the floors. Seems like it'd be easier to clean and perhaps easier on the feet. I have an old 30x36 cage in need of a new floor and was thinking of giving it a go but thought I'd ask around first. Did some searches for prior topics but didn't find anything.

I'd be concerned about the rabbits chewing at it and, ingesting bits of the vinyl. I wouldn't use it.

I have some pens I got at auction - came from veterinary lab - they used to house cats. Side and top wire is 1 x 1. Bottom wire is 1/2 x 1. All vinyl coated. Rabbits do chew on the side wires - don't know that it hurts them. One problem with the coated wire is that the coating makes the 1/2 x 1 openings on the floor a bit smaller and if the rabbit produces larger droppings, they won't go through the wire. Another is when I power wash them. Any place the rabbits have chewed tends to shred under the force of the power washer.

I imagine if you have smaller breeds, it'd work just fine. I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost. Make sure the wire is at least 14 guage, though, and that the floor has adequate supports. The vinyl doesn't do anything to prevent sagging.

Good luck!

the above is about the same as my opinion, --best of luck, hope it works for you.

If you really want durable floor wire get the thickest gauge you can find and have it powder coated, a good powder coating will take years of abuse and wont be chewed off nearly as easily as vinyl.
