Vent disease or poor hygiene?

I was checking over my two NZWs in the barn and both have a substance that looks like ear wax near their vents. There are no scabs, irritation or inflammation, but both had hard little pieces of this red-brown substance in the area.

Nothing to worry about or treatment time (and what treatment)?

Those are glands. You can clean them out with a moist cotton swab if you want.
