I have an interest in a rabbit with an e-lop personality. I love my friend's e-lops but I want something that can be a lap rabbit. So I thought of Velveteens but I do not like the health problems in the breed. So I wouldn't be breeding just having one as a pet. So I emailed Journey Home Rabbitry [The current cod holder] asking about health problems genetically but I am not hopeful because her presentation animals were said to be boney but I am curious to her what her response will be. :|

the vlops I bought from her were healthy and hardy... but none of them was under 9lbs. This was about 2 years ago now, though, so perhaps she's bred the size down since?

Here is BH's old v-lop thread

I think the only breed specific health problem yours had, other than the curled tails, was the buck who got frostbit ears, right?

My buck from the same place had genetic wry tail (something some lines of e-lop are also known to have), pinched hips (I should have noticed this one  ), grew to be about 8 1/2 lbs and developed sore hocks while being kept on clean bedding off wire. He sure was a sweetheart though. :)

From what I was able to tell, she was very focused on ear length, and to get it her lines were very e-lop heavy.

I think the issue Mucky has, where her and her son's kits have a predisposition towards swollen lymph nodes is very line specific. I don't think it's at all common.
