Well Luna's mastitis is much better. She is acting normal. :) Her kits are all doing great even though they had to be taken from her early. They had to be moved to a more secure cage cause the little black one disappeared. -/-( I think a raccoon pried the door open & grabbed him :( The 6 white females are doing well though & I put my meanest buck in the cage should the kidnapper return. The red kits are being OVER fed by their Mom. Giant bellies all day long. The little runt red is doing very well with his Foster Family! His new Mommy Cloud took to him like magic & he has been getting regular meals every day & now looks very good :)
Can't wait till I get my new set up & I can rest easy cause everyone will be totally safe. Getting a carport. Surrounding it with trellis & fencing so I can close it up at night but they still get fresh air. Also putting fans in the roof for air flow.
Will post pix later today of kits & rabbits.
Hubby tried to tell me rabbits are too much drama. I told him to go play with his 3 wheelers that ALWAYS break down & leave him on the side of the road. Everything worth doing comes with drama!

I will second that, as I hover over the nest of a singleton kit, from my favorite holland who lost her first litter.

Sounds like things are going well. :) Sorry about the little lost black kit though. :(

My hubby tells me every week, how much work these rabbits are, and how the cost isn't worth it. Between the pellets, the enclosed rabbitry, the ventilation, and all the worry........he just rolls his eyes. I tell ya though, he sure appreciates it when I put a fresh meal on the table, made from healthy fresh rabbit meat. They get over it!

LOL :bunnyhop:

Okay here are the pix. The 2 red bunnies are from the same litter. It is the runty guy I put in with my mini rex litter. She is taking good care of him & I hope he makes it but if he doesn't I understand.

__________ Fri Apr 13, 2012 1:09 pm __________

He is a bit thin I think. Wondering what to do. I am sure she feeds him ( my mini rex) cause the others are very plump. I think it may be just due to his runtyness? I dunno.

poor runty is REALLY runty, isn't he? Hopefully he'll catch up.

what a gorgeous color they are, though.

Yeah he is a fighter & that Mini Rex momma is taking great care of him. If he makes it till next week he will be fine :) I am rooting for him! He would have been Destroyed if I had left him in with his siblings. He fits right in with the Mini Rex litter :)

They are so pretty!

Must... resist... buying... red... rabbits... :grit:

Are you sure runty is runty and not that the others are just ENORMOUS? Look at the belly on that critter!

Congrats on all the lovely babies! Looks like you have some pretty broken MRs and Luna's kits look really good too.

YAY! My last pregnant doe popped! She had 3 healthy fat & well fed kits! All black like her! She pulled so much fur & did a great job :) Glad I didn't give up with all the trouble I had in the start. Now I am up to my elbows in POPPLES :) healthy happy POPPLES :) Even little Runty Red looks great today!

the runty one looks VERY typical for a runty kit.

Let him be.
He may surprise you and go through a growth spurt, he may not.
As long as he is growing relative to his size at the same rate (or more) that the others are growing I'd worry not. :)
