I was expecting 11-12 NOT 15. and all but one are a good size.

Will be getting pics up next week sometime as bugging her too much not a great idea at this point. :)

all the babies are cleaned and well fed this morning. Had an extremely hungry doe this morning... she apparently sucked back three cups of feed overnight and she was still starving.... :)

I know most seem to cut back litters of that size but is it possible for a single doe to successfully raise that many kits? No doubt they would grow slower.

when she is a little less concerned about what is happening with her kits I'll get some pics taken. Probably not for a couple of days yet... She's a daughter of Biscuit and she's quite watchful of her youngsters.

Congratulations, that's wonderful!! Fingers crossed that all 15 will make it through weaning! Do you have another for fostering, or do you let them try to raise the large litter? And just curiosity from a newbie, does keeping a large litter cause you to alter your breeding schedule?

Congrats again - can't wait to see those pictures!

I always breed back based on doe's condition and her attitude (some of my does demand to be bred or raising kits) and my needs.

if doe is in good shape... doesn't matter how many she had in her previous litter... I"ll breed her back.
If doe is in poor condition there is no point in breeding her back and she most likely won't take anyways. (does in poor shape tend not to have good litters). BUT if I know the doe bounces back quickly when kits are removed I"ll take them away earlier and then give her that week to regain shape.

I don't tend to push my does hard for most of the year anyways, but over the winter/spring I will. But in the summer... Not.. I"ve lost does to heat before when preggers so don't breed in the heat of summer.

I have no fosters at the moment. She so far doing a stellar job. She's eating like a horse (though saying she eats relatively like a bird would be more accurate) and drinking tons.

Just wondering how the babies are doing

kits are doing well... she has mostly reds and some brokens from what I can currently tell. She gets rather frantic yet if I pull the box over long so no pics yet... she's calming down but I see no reason to stress her at this point.

Wow. Can't wait to see picts of your group. That's enough kits to start a whole new rabbitry.
