I've read that rabbits can have bananas but can they also have the peels?? :bunnyhop:

Technically the peel itself is not harmful. The peel picks up so much junk (they always feel sticky to me) being shipped around though and I'm not sure if banana trees are sprayed with anything that I probably wouldn't feed it to anything. I doubt it would be very appealing anyway.

oh NO!!!! Banana peels are great treats! As far as I know, they don't spray the trees for anything, but if you're worried, you can wash the banana before peeling it.

My rabbits LOVE...yes LOVE will lay down and BEG for peels. I give them 2inches of a "strip". Loads of vitamins plus fiber.

It might take them a time or two to figure out what it is...but the smell is overwhelming and 90% will try it quickly and like it.

my rabbits will do most anything for a banana peel. love love love love love 'em.

and they have suffered no ill effects in getting them for over two years now. :)

Silver can you beg? no. here's a banana peel. sitting up.. begging.. please MOM????

Mine like them too. The sticky-ness on them is from fruit juice in transit usually, but if you are the sort who worries about chemicals, you are probably the sort that shells out for the organic bananas. I don't, but I am kinda casual about stuff like that. The chemicals I am exposed to in my daily life are likely to be way more detrimental to my health than any residue on my food. I am doomed!

My iguana LOVES babana peel, but all the forums warned to wash them REALLY well because they do get sprayed (unless you are getting the organic ones). Lots of animals will eat banana peel and love it :)
