I am planning on taking some young rabbits to sell at the show tomorrow and I am trying to figure out how many I can bring. The entry form states that "All animals must be healthy and in proper size transport cages with bottoms to ensure rabbit's well being." I am hoping that since an adult Rex weighs 8-10lbs approximately, that I can put two young 4lb rabbits in each hole. Here is a pic with 2 in one hole, and 1 in a hole:

I may buy some larger cages for my does with kits out of the nest while I am there, so I suppose if I get called on it (cramming too many bunnies in a transport cage) I will be forced to buy new ones... "But Hubs! They made me do it!"

I would think they would be fine. I've seen bigger rabbits that took up more of the space in a carrier than your 2 do. They look like they have room to move around and get by each other. A water source and some hay and they should be good for the day. Good luck at the show.

It looks to be a bit too crowded to me. Might not be a bad idea to look into getting an extra carrier from a vendor at the show.

Thanks for the input guys! I actually have enough room for all to have their own holes. Hopefully I'll have lots of empty spaces when I come home. :)

I've also seen adults crammed in much tighter and that seems to be the norm.
If that is too tight by their rules for young buns, but big enough for a large rabbit that fits in more tightly, then they need to change their rules. Would make no sense to me. :/

a good thing to think of-- when travelling, you do not want the animals to be 'thrown' about if there is a bump or jerk in any direction. A horse and cow dealer friend told me WHY livestock trailers are either packed like sardines or quite empty-- packing tight keeps animals from falling over on turns!! A fallen animal in a trailer gets stepped on- injured-- AS long as the rabbits in the carriers are not actually forced to be on top of each other- and you can see some of the flooring, the rabbits should be comfy for a few hours- my preference is to be able to have each animal stretch out without being on top of another, except by choice-- did that when crate training young pups, as well---Start with the whole litter in one crate, and as they grew, increased the number of crates used...
