I breed full siblings and mother/son. Course...I eat everything that is produced, but I know others that show that do half siblings or other relation breedings.

It's called Line breeding and that is how every breed of dogs, cats, rabbits, horses etc have been produced. You select the offspring with the desired traits and breed those together.
When you breed an animal not in the same gene pool(related) that is called out crossing.

I've done it....and I recommend it with animals with a lot of pros!

Like everyone says, it does intensify your genes and can set the good and bad in concrete. Now, when I tried it, the Mini Lops had a fault of a slightly pinched crown....my offspring? 6 out of 8 were severely pinched in the crown. 2 were like the parents. I ended up culling some cute ones as pets and the rest to the freezer. None were show quality.

So it can work, but I think they should compliment each other and be pretty nice. Mini Lops are just a bit tough cause you got to get the type just right and the crown and ear right too.

do half siblings or other relation breedings. This is Line-breeding as well. Full brother/sister matings exacerbate any flaws rather quickly. For meat production only....no problems..
