I currently feed Health Diet Rabbit Food, which is kind of pricey now that I'm getting into multiple rabbits. I can easily go through a bag in 2 weeks if I have kits and the adults. It's 15$ for a 20lb bag.

On my trip to the Zoo today, which is about 45 mins away, I passed a TSC store. Never really thought of it before, it's actually on the way to my niece's archery lessons, and 3/4ths of the year someone in my fam is driving past it on a weekly basis. So, I went on the website today to see what it was saying about rabbit food, and found these two brands.

Rolling Acres Rabbit Feed and Rolling Acres Rabbit Breeder Feed. It's like... way less expensive, and I can buy it in bigger bags. About 20$ for 55lbs.

If I were going for it, I think I'd use the Breeder Formula, as it seems to be higher in protein, but am not sure. I know often that cheaper product is usually cheaper for a reason, but this is stuff being sold by a completely different type of store, aimed at people raising rabbits as livestock, not pets(it's under the animal and equine section, not pet and birding).

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are, and what suggestions might be made. As I don't drive myself, I am relatively limited in my choices. If they do poorly on it, I would switch back to the old stuff. This seems like an excellent option for me, as it's relatively inexpensive, in a place where it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to get someone to go to buy it, and seems to have about the same analysis as the stuff they're on. I suppliment with various greens, and intend to grow both dandelions and carrot tops over winter for them, as well as anything else I can collect seeds from and grow in planters under lights. They also get tons of hay and a fresh veg treat once a day.

If its similar to what you've got now then you're probably ok. I hear you on the expense, I'm going through about a bag and a half every week with 20+ juniors on the ground. I'm getting to the point where I'm really looking forward to my next camp day.

The breeder feed is closer than the rabbit feed. I have to decide which I want before tomorrow morning, as my dad is going to pick it up for me when he's in peterborough for an appointment. Any other opinions? Please and thank you

I'd go with the breeder feed.

I feed pellets from TSC. I use ManaPro Gro. A lot of times the kind you get at pet stores or department stores (walmart etc.) can have corn or too many sweet fruity things in there. I would go with a breeder type rabbit feed.

I didn't see a list of ingredients, just a nutritional analysis. I would call the store and ask one of the staff to read the tag to you. If you like you could write it down and then post it here, but basically you want specific ingredients, not vague terms like "forage products", "roughage products", etc. Alfalfa should be the first ingredient.

I feed Manna pro. I noticed that the breeder I got my Rabbits from was using it too. It is only 13.99 for 50 pounds. My Rabbits are looking nice and doing well as is the breeder I viseted.

Which variety of Manna Pro? When I fed pellets I was using the Manna Pro Sho and it was close to twenty dollars a bag.

I am only going by what the website lists, as I've not been in the store before. And I can't go with my dad tomorrow, as I'll be at market. Guess I will have to get up early and call them before Dad leaves, otherwise I'll have to wait until someone can take me up there.

I will ask after Manna Pro.

The stuff I get from the pet store isn't too bad as far as ingredients go, I get just plain pellets. It's just the vast difference in cost that's got me wanting to switch, as it's more than twice the amount for about 5$ more.

Well, it's TSC, but I can't find what TSC stands for, only that it's a Canadian company and only in Canada. The Tractor Supply Company uses that as their tag line, and this TSC uses The Incredible Country Hardware Store as their tag line? In fact, reading the about me, they do definitely appear to be completely different stores. GAH! My head hurts!!

I'd select the Breeder Feed, personally.

Also, it appears that the TSC company you're referencing is indeed part of the same TSC that is becoming so common here in the U.S., mainly since their logo is the same as the old school logo at the TSC's here. At any rate, they usually provide good feed products at their stores and I'd lean very hard toward giving the feeds you listed a try.

Is it possible, that TSC, sells feed from the local mills, to make sure the feed is fresh and from that area?

It sounds like a tractor supply brand name. The name they use here is producers pride. Be very careful because I just lost a bunch of rabbits due to their brand feed. I am feeding oats boss and alfalfa now but if I go back to pellets it will be manna pro select as there is no corn in it.

It's possible, but I think all their main lines go thru a central distribution point that is owned by their company. I would hope since it involves perishable products that they have regional distros, but it's hard to say. I do know that the local stores order from the same facility. Where it all gets to that facility is anyone's guess.
