when checking a rabbit's ears.  If tattooed that the tattoo is still clean and legible.  But if just doing a health check that the ear is clean.  No presence of foreign objects (like mites) or debris. no unexpected damage due to other critters, weather or housing, no bulbous areas due to trauma.  ear temp should be consistent throughout.
