So I've had two does kindle...their kits are just about 5 weeks old now.

One is a laidback easy going girl, the other is a bit highstrung.

The difference in their kits is AMAZING.

And I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

Taking pictures of highstrung does kits was EASY as can be. Mom doesn't let her kits get away with anything and will growl, pounce etc on them if she aren't doing what she wants them to do (which is to sit still and not bother her). They sat still, I took pics and bang done.

Quiet relaxed doe.. her kits were ALL OVER THE PLACE... climbing out of boxes, trying to scale mount everest, coming to say hi.. they are the friendliest things.. but disciplined? Not even in the slightest.

Seeing the drastic difference in the two has got me thinking... which will make the better pet in the long run? The well-disciplined kits or the easy going in your face ones?

One litter is all one colour, and the same with other litter...bet you can't even guess which colour is from which doe. :) (huh...like this will be SO EASY)

So what do you think?
Which will make for the better pet long term???

Oh, wow, that's interesting! I have no idea which would be better as pets, though I'm thinking that the temperaments of the kits when they grow up might be a lot more like the temperaments of their mothers.

My bet is on bucks from either litter. ;)

I also think that they will show their true colors at puberty, and not before.
I've had laid back kits out of laid back does turn into monsters at puberty.

I think it was due to a sort of genetic...wildness..that is dominant and can be inherited from either parent, even if the bucks do not display it like the does do.

Just like there is no "better" dog breed it all depends on what the owner is looking for in a pet.

If they want an inquisitive rabbit that is fearless then then those kits, if they want a rabbit that is content to spend 90% of their time in a cage and will sit for hours on the couch without a fuss then those kits.

Just like my dogs, who do agility, Rally-O and go hiking, I like my pet rabbits with a bit of attitude, but I worry less about the obedient ones I sell as I know they are less likely to get into trouble and if they get forgotten by their new owners they will be OK and not go stir crazy

I would think the litter out of the laid back doe would be better for pets, and the ones with the more strict momma would be better at showing(obv structure plays into that, but if momma taught them to sit still and shut up, it would be easier to manipulate them into posing.)

had someone in today looking at these too litters.. and the browns were put on hold because "oh... they just sit quiet don't they? they are not all in your face!!! These others are pretty but they are pretty much all over the place aren't they?" Made me smile.
