YAY! I am officially the owner of rabbits.. again! lol

My friend who i received the rabbits from (a proven breeding trio) thought that they were Norwegian ? I'm not familiar with that breed. does anyone have them?

i can't get into photobucket right now.. otherwise I'd post photos! lol They are very cute... the Buck is a bit friendlier then the two does.. but that will come in time. They are stressed out a bit.. so I gave them food and water and have left them alone to settle.

There is no breed known as "Norwegian". Are they lops? Holland Lops, perhaps? :?

Who needs photobucket? We have two different tutorials on methods to post photos:

attachment-tutorial-t5.html

picture-tutorial-t6003.html

I personally prefer photos posted directly on the pages here rather than having to open a new tab- we have satellite internet and always use up our allotment before the month is up (just hit 100% usage today, as a matter of fact)- plus if you go through old posts you sometimes find that the photo(s) in outside hosting sites are no longer there. :(

Yeah i tried looking it up.. but saw no breed by that name.

Hm.. I'll ask again.. she lives down the rd from me and i babysit her children regularly. (My youngest is smack dab in the middle of her children's ages.. it works out really well)

I'll try the photo tute.... <br /><br /> __________ Mon Feb 08, 2016 6:26 pm __________ <br /><br />

From the patchy black and silver, they look like young Champagne d'Argents? <br /><br /> __________ Mon Feb 08, 2016 10:22 pm __________ <br /><br /> From the patchy black and silver, they look like young Champagne d'Argents?

Yeah... we looked up photos of rabbit breeds and either the Champagne d'Argent or the American Chinchilla was as close as we could figure that they could be. I'll double check with my friend tomorrow.. since i am babysitting her children.

I really like them. That are good looking rabbits, pretty heavy... 8 lbs maybe more on the buck.

I'm happy with the trade. My friend wants some butchered kits for the freezer.. and then the option to have kits for breeding later on if they want. By then i may have a few other rabbits for them to choose from.... never know

These are chinchilla colored, not champagne.. Champagnes are self(solid) black based with silvering made of white hairs.

A champ would not have the agouti marks, like the ear lining, and lighter bellies, underside of tail, nose markings and eye circles that chinchilla colored rabbits have.
Actually, if you look closely at pics, you'll notice that champages are darkest in pretty much all the places that chinchillas are lightest. :)

That being said, there are many breeds that chinchilla comes in. Standard chinchilla, american chinchilla, giant chinchilla, and chinchilla colored flemish giants, any kind of lop, etc..

Your rabbits may meet the standards for a breed, or they may be mixes.
ARBA judges based on phenotype, essentially how a rabbit looks. So if a rabbit looks the right way, has the correct body structure, is free of breed specific DQs, and weighs the right amount, it can be shown as a member of that breed.

Here is a little info on the different weights of the most common chinchilla colored buns:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinchilla_rabbit

No matter what specific type they are, they look like they will make splendid meat rabbits. :)
