My name is Abraham. I'm an American Chinchilla x New Zealand x American Sable mix. I look exactly the same as my gold-tipped steel siblings until you flip me over and see my fat white gut.

What "official" color am I?

P.S. - This is the same buckling I posted about awhile ago, but he now has a decent enough pelt that I thought maybe we could try again.

Not enough rufus for a chestnut, no agouti rings or ear lacing, lots of chin/shaded gene floating around, perhaps it's a steel tipped chinchilla?

That's what I was thinking because, look, he has rings!

Was it a NZW or another color? If it was a white then the only color it can be is a chin. There's no full color gene in that mix and chin is the most dominant.

Silver tipped steel = agouti, black, chinchilla, not dilute, steel
AKA a steel chinchilla

Gold tipped steel = agouti, black, full colour, not dilute, steel
AKA. Steel chestnut

What colour are the parents and could you post pics?

UK Flemish Giant comes to my mind. That is an agouti colour, even though we call it "dark Steel". Belly looks great, nice and clean. The top colour here seems a bit light, but one photo in your photo bucket (on the grass) looks more typical. You can see the Agouti eye rings (although a bit faint) and also the eyes have that red glow. Nice proportion between ears and head size. Could do with more black banding before the ticking starts. The ticking itself could be cleaner (white, rather than cream)

Makes sense to me as you have the Chinchilla. Probably somewhere back in the line you will find an import that was then mixed in with the American Flemish or Chin or even the NZW - the combination makes a very fast growing meat rabbit.

What's it's age and weight now?

Here's pics of Mom and Dad. Mom is the Chinchilla, she is a NZW x American Chin, and Dad is an American Sable.

Lovely bunnys :D the buck has such tiny ears for his cubby body- it is very cute!

He can hide a steel gene since he is not agouti based but self. If the doe had it she would be quite a bit darker.

I think you have one of those famous "Shagoutis" Its a mix of the shaded father and agouti mama. He is highly cute no matter his "mixed blacksheep ancestors..makes him all the more adorable and bad boy lol
