So I've been watching this litter closely because I've been hearing the choking on their food and water from time to time....at first I thought nothing of it...then I thought it was the hay bother them...now I was like screw it....and culled one for further investigation and about to cull another.... These are the only ones acting up. They are completely weaned and their mother is perfectly fine and so is their father. They aren't snotting, don't have any weepy eyes, not crusting that I can see... What is going on here  I'm going to cull another to do another check.

The kidney look a little funny to me

So far the two that I culled both had gas in their intestines.

hmm that's what it is looking like. Is it cause by the Pasturella or is it cause by them wolfing down their food and it going down the wrong pipe? I'm probably going to just cull the rest of them if it's linked back to snuffles.

Pneumonia can be caused by P., but I think it usually causes white snot first, then it seems to subside, and that's when it can go into pneumonia. I could be incorrect, though.

Those lungs are awful. :( One of the kidneys looks a little enlarged and has a yellowish streak on it maybe? But wow... those lungs...

looks like pneumonia to me as well. I get that on occasion when the weather fluctuates.

I've seen it in rabbits kept in dirty conditions as well.

I just culled them all and scrubbed down the cage.

I did noticed this summer, a very humid & wet one unlike last year, I had an issue similar with another litter and culled them out at the nesting box. It was strange because I had no sick parents. I had that litter and mother away from these guys, so these have never come in contact.

I culled one down for sounding stuffed up like the previous litter, but no snot. Later, these guys started sneezing, but they would also scarf down their food and choke on water when they gulped it down. I had my most recent litter now and they are perfectly fine o.o My guess is this might have been a weather issue...

Such an odd thing!

__________ Fri Sep 27, 2013 7:29 pm __________

Thank you guys for all the input. What would I do without my RT family!
