I woke up this morning to 4 black flemish giant popples :bunnyhop: I was suprized that Butterscotch only had black kits and only 4! I wonder if any are going to be steel :thinking:

Here is a quick pic of them. I am down to 3, 1 died I beleve from the heat, as the other 3 were very hot and hardly moving I am going to keep them in during the day since it is going to be in the 90's this weekend.

Congratulations 2 of my litters are Flemish too, what about froze water bottles on the outside of the box to keep em cool???

I do put frozen 2 litter bottles with her, she likes to push it around her cage, so it probably wont stay up against the nestbox. So far this morning the 3 are looking good, but its going to be 90 today so I will be brining them in when it gets hotter out.

When will i be able to tell if the kits are black or steels? I was surprized at the dark babies since mom is fawn and dad is blue, but mom does have steel and sandy in her pedigree, and dad has some black in his.

take some of that fur out of the nest, about 3/4 of it....Congrats on the popples!

I think I will do that, she definitly pulled enough fur! Is it ok if I put the fur in a baggie and save it for later?

I always save fur if I can, you'll need it somewhere

I keep a baggie that is stuffed with all different furs...I use it as I need it and have never had a problem with a doe because of it....
