I have a Holland lop doe who had her first litter 4 days ago. She had 7. My question is should I be giving her any addition supplements since she is feeding 7 babies? She is currently getting 1/2 cup of pellets and all she can eat alfalfa every day. And of course water.
Any help is greatly appreciated

We're giving our does that kindled recently BOSS, bramble (raspberry canes dried last summer), nettle and dill seed and willow twigs with leaves--all dried last summer. We don't feed pellets so they are also getting mixed hay, oats, and wheat grown out to fodder. During the growing season they would get fresh borage and fresh of some of the dried things. Except nettle which is always fed dry--and is a favorite, usually what they go for first.
I don't think you need to supplement with any particular thing but probably increase her regular feed while she's nursing. My idea of getting the kits off to a good start is to give the doe the best diet possible and as much as she wants while her milk is all they get.

Congratulations on the kits! Seven seems like a huge litter for such a little rabbit!

She should have unlimited pellets while she has a litter.

I also supplement my does with a mix of grains while they are nursing.

My current formula is:

10 cups oats
10 cups barley
4 cups BOSS
4 cups wild bird seed
4 cups flax
4 cups green split peas
4 cups calf manna

Once the kits start coming out of the nest I bump up the oats and barley, adding another 10 cups of each so the mix will not be too rich for them.

Thanks so much for the help. I will be moving her to full feed and add some oats in for her as well. Here are some pics. I have no clue what colors these little guys are it will be fun to see them grow.
