HOLY WOW!!! Silverado just kindled.

Um.... yah.... FOURTEEN!! That is CRAAAAAAAZY!! We're going to have to divide the litter and alternate feedings. That's just too many.

Amazing!

I'm relieved that my Rex aren't that prolific- the largest litter I have ever had is ten.

Forget breeding only two does at a time- I think you better breed a total of three or four does whenever you breed her!

Fourteen!!!! That is a lot of kits, for sure. One of my first does had 12-13 quite regularly, and raised just about all of them. But I was not happy about such large litters. They grew more slowly and they were filthy little things. Mom did not train them at all. I suppose she was as overwhelmed as the Old Woman in the Shoe. Her sister, our foundation doe Patches, raised litters of 6-8, but she did it beautifully.

Hope it goes well, Ollitos! :clover:

Yah.. I'm sure these will be very slow growers. This is the first litter off our new blue-gene Silver Fox buck, Levis. I also bred our SF doe, Carney, to him. She should kindle tonight.

I guess she had just finished popping them all out when I got to the box because they all seemed very weak and lethargic. It's super windy right now but I'm going to have to pull out the stronger ones for the second feeding. I may end up deciding to pull them all and only put in half the litter for a feeding at a time so I know for sure when they are being fed.

The good thing is that this doe is the daughter of our best milker/feeder so hopefully she'll get them going as well as her mother does with her own litters.

OMG 14!!! Congratulations!!! Hope they all do well.
I agree with Wyldrose, I'd be holding a couple!

Wow, do you have your hands full! Full of beautiful SF babies.

Can't wait for pictures.

Oh my!!! Gotta send some of those SF my way. Average litter size for does in this line is 6-8, but I wouldn't know, because the SF still won't breed!!

Biggest Rex litter was 12, raised 11.

biscuit gives me 14 all the time.

largest litter I heard of was 28, was broken into two groups of 14 and all made it to weaning. (not my litter, I would have culled it down to 11 or 12).

So have fun with those babies, I hope they all survive for you. :)

Holy popples, Batman! We're planning to breed our first ever in a couple weeks. Our buck is a blue...sure hope the does don't have huge litters like that...too much for a couple of newbies!

Congrats...hoping they all do well and thrive :)

I definitely don't want litters this large on a regular basis. Particularly when they are meat mutt litters. Takes too long for them to grow out. These kits are so tiny.

Still waiting for me SF doe to kindle.

Can't wait for that group, wanna take guesses on how many she'll have?

Greg checked and said she has started pulling fur. I'm going to say 9.
