I went and got my new house rabbit this morning. However, I was unable to get a sample of his current feed.

My thoughts were to just let him have hay (timothy is what I have) and fresh water for a day or so, then give him small amounts of the pellets I want to use, then slowly introduce some greens and vegetables.

Does this sound like a good idea, or should I give him some pellets immediately?

He's cute and adorable and seems to have an awesome temperament.

I've switched rabbit pellets abruptly, no ill effects. So, I can't help much. I'd give him some pellets, oh and branches to chew.

Get some kitchen oatmeal (like Quaker Old Fashioned) and give that to him for a few days, along with the timothy hay. Then start adding the pellets of your choice in small quantities, building up over time. Kitchen oatmeal is very easy for rabbits to digest and provides a smooth transition to new feed.

10 months old. he is happily chowing on the hay, and I will add a little bit of oatmeal to his bowl

__________ Sun Apr 15, 2012 4:49 pm __________

Meet Snack
