I think I read somewhere to add something to their water, but at the time I didn't think I needed the info, and now that I feel like I do, I can't seem to find it. Typical.

My lactating doe has really strong smelling urine, it's quite dark in colour - brownish, and milky not clear. Is this something to do with post pregnancy, or something I'm feeding her?
I'm noticing and learning lot more now that I have her living inside with her litter.

Any advice would help! Thanks :)

If she's eating more like they usually do to support pregnancy and milk production she's probably just peeing and pooping out more of the excess since they don't need everything exactly in the ratios found in their food. More excess to remove = more concentrated urine = more smell. Not really an issue short term while raising a litter.

You can try a couple of things, though... apple cider vinegar in the water, or yucca... you can put some agricultural lime or peat moss in her tray, if she has one under a wire floor.

What quantity of Apple cider vinegar? :)

It's two tablespoons to a gallon. I had a doe that looked like she was peeing gritty chocolate milk and the ACV cleared her up and mostly de-stank her pee.

Thank you! I'll give it a go :)
