I got suckered into falling for the French Lop. Unfortunately, most of my cages are dedicated to Lionheads so I really only have room for 2-3 so therefore I have to be super picky. I currently like the blue, the orange, and the red. If I wanted to get two that would have the possibility of having either colored kits, I would be looking for a blue that only carried one E gene and one e gene (so one of the parents would have to be an orange or red?), correct? Also, if I wanted the possibility of broken and solid kits, one of these colors would have to be broken and one solid, correct?

Breeding a blue to an orange will produce chestnut and even gold tipped steel as this gene is very common in French lops and they could be so dark they look like blacks as "Es e" combos often creates this effect

For this reason I would stick to self or agouti and not mix the two colours

I see! Good to know! Thank you!

__________ Sun Mar 13, 2016 7:16 pm __________

What happens if either of those colors (orange or blue) are bred with a frosty (A- B- cchd– D- ee)? I knew I should have stuck with the easier Lionhead colors! Thank you for the help!

Breeding orange to frosty will result in mostly orange, but torts could be possible if both carry self and frosty could also be possible if the orange carries a recessive C recessive such as REW or himi.
