It was finally nice enough outside to have a really good grooming session with my angoras.

My male hasn't been keeping his hind end very clean and he has a lot of dry, flaky skin covering his testicles. His scent glands were also pretty much sealed shut. So I cleaned those out along with some of the harder, crusty matter in the folds between the glands and the testicles. (Sure glad it was nice enough to do this outside.) I also trimmed back his fur in the area to see if that will encourage him to keep himself a little tidier down there.

My question though is what could cause the skin problem in just that area. I groomed him with the blower and the rest of his skin is great!

I'm wondering if it's related to too much fur and not keeping clean as the flaking skin looks very much like the dandruff that my matted doe had when I got her (which has completely cleared up now).

Any thoughts?

That is quite possible. He is litter trained and I did notice that he was sitting in his litter box quite a bit last night. (I have all my rabbits in my dining room - city life).

I currently have him in an exercise pen on the linoleum and he is pretty tidy, but I may have to look at moving him to a wire bottom cage if he won't stop sitting in his box.
