Hi all. I have a Californian doe that after she gave birth she started using the nesting box as a litter box. Since then she has been losing hair on her legs and butt. She also has sore feet. We put in a mat awhile back and are soaking her in the sink along with using antibiotic ointment. Is she salvageable or should I just cull her? She is a sweet girl and a good momma.

Did the kits survive being peed on? That behavior is usually grounds for culling because the kits get chilled and die.

It sounds like she may have a fungal infection caused by being damp. You can use any over the counter fungal medicine for Athlete's foot to treat it, or get either Blu-Kote or Nu-Stock from a feed store. The large animal products are more cost effective, and I especially like Nu-Stock because the active ingredient is Sulfur, which is safe and effective.

Oh- that's good!

I hope she gets better. :) Btw, the Nu-Stock cured my husband's Athlete's foot when all other products failed.
