I have another big question guys....

I have a seal doe that I'm going to enter on Saturday in all 3 shows at Dalton (Unless my possible pregnant does or doesn't kindle/ Won't be bringing my soon to be buck because he's in a molt) ...I'm not sure if I should enter her on Sunday for the Mini Lop Specialty show... She is very typey and beautiful but her breeder let me know that her remarks at shows were that she needed more bone and a bit more depth. So should I make the second trip on Sunday or no for this one doe?

I usually bring several rabbits and not just one, if its close it isn't so bad but most shows are a 4 hour one way trip for me. If its really close to you, I see no harm as its good to get other opinions on the rabbit...every one can have a majorly different opinion when it comes to the same rabbit and I've found some people that think x rabbit has great bone and depth can be the worst looking rabbit to the next....

Go for it Peach, if showing is what your interested in of course. Different judges see different things and rabbits change as they mature. Even if you get those same remarks it doesn't mean that you won't place decently and you'll still the the experience. I used to show horses, you can't win everytime but the shows are still fun.

I was surprised to see some animals at the show I attended that were all fur-chewed, and others that were molting horribly. If he doesn't look too bad and you could do a lot of grooming between now and the show to get most of the loose fur out, it might be worthwhile to spend the $3 and take him anyway. The judges know when they are molting, but hopefully will still give you an overall evaluation of him. Out of 100 points, fur counts for 10 and condition counts for 5- I have no idea if points would be knocked off in both categories or only one.

I looked at my first (only!) show as a learning experience, and took a couple of black bucks that had scattered white hairs (a no-no) just to get an overall assessment of the animals... but I knew that there wouldn't be very much competition there so I wanted to get as much info as I could. If mini-lops are popular in your area, and there will be plenty of other bucks being judged, you could just watch that instead of bringing your little guy if you think he looks really bad right now.
