We picked up a new Flemish giant doe 4 days ago. We raise our buns in a colony. She is in the quarantine pen and had babies 2 days ago. (I noticed a little blood on the straw where she was sitting to eat and assumed that meant she'd had babies somewhere. I finally found the nest today.....but she hid them very well and the opening to the hole is all blocked in her fur. (She's a pro at this mom thing apparently) So my question is....... Should I pull them out to check on them or let them be until she brings them out of the nest? I had planned on setting up nest boxes and having a "maternity ward pen" but she beat me to it. Lol.
Thanks in advance,
Jess

Go ahead and check them. You will want to make sure that there are not any dead kits that could foul the nest.
It's a complete myth that rabbits will harm or abandon their babies if handled.

I think this thread is all the proof necessary, just click through and see how many of us safely handle our babies. :D

Yep, Zass said it! Don't be afraid to check those kits. :)

Her nest sounds really neat! It'd be great to have pix of that!
