Hello I'm new here so i don't know how this site works btw i have two pets rabbit and one of them is 7 months old and the other is 5 . So i just want to ask that can we use coconut oil in the infected areas of rabbit?
Okay so I'll tell you whole story, I'm bad in english so don't mind my grammar. It started about a month ago my 7 month old rabbit bit the small one behind his neck it was just a small bit but after few days the big one started to lick that area where he bited him and after a while it spread all over his back neck and the back side of ears i also visited the veteran and he gave me the moisturizer and I've been using that moisturizer bur its not helping and he loose his weight and now the really skinny and i can also see his backbone and his hip bone and also he's not eating much now so I'm really worried about that and i don't want to loose him. What exactly is the ailment? Infected as in a wound with infection? What is the cause? Mites? Sore hocks? I've used it on dry skin on my rabbits and it does help, but there may be better treatments depending on what's going on with your buns.
I'd also suggest changing the title of your post to give a bit more context and have better searchability ☺

Is the wound still open? Has it scabbed? Sometimes, applying ointments or moisturizers can exasperate the issue.
If the rabbit is losing weight to the point you can very easily feel the hips and spine, you'll need to start packing weight back on it. Do you have access to black oil sunflower seeds? Or plain oats? Keep the rabbit moving as much as possible. Sprinkle some molasses on some oats if you need to, but it has got to start increasing intake else you risk GI Stasis.
Is that the back of his head?I don't have access to black oil sunflower seed is there any other option and yes rabbit is moving he's even playing with other but not eating much
YesIs that the back of his head?
I already seperated them and only let them meet just for an hour. I also noticed that my rabbit is sneezing after rubbing coconut oil so i'm gonna stop using coconut oil. What should i do i'm really worried about himhave you separated them? That would be the very first thing I would do.
If you wanted to lightly rub coconut oil over it would be okay. You have to try something right?
What do i do now?Alright, got it
Umm... Does it hurt when you touch it? Is it hot? What do i do now?
Yes, it is hot.Umm... Does it hurt when you touch it? Is it hot?
I've been doing this for like four days and yes vet checked him and he also injected him but nothing is workingIf we had the two bunnies here, we'd separate them so one wouldn't be licking the other. Then feed to one losing weight extra so he will gain weight. Plain oatmeal added to his usual meals can help add weight. Unlimited pellets, if you feed pellets. Unlimited hay or grasses. Lots of water. Once he starts gaining weight again, then they can go back together if they like.
Did the vet check for infections?
