My niece's doe is starting to build a nest. Went out to clean her cage an give her some fresh water and noticed she started taken some straw from her litter pan to her nest box. So I cleaned out all the straw from the nest box and gave her a big pile of hay so she can build what she started the first time. She most be building it early because she is only on day 25. Can't wait...

Yeah she is on the ball and I was worried about her since this is going to be her first litter. I don't think I have to be to worried now. All the hay I gave her from earlier this morning is all in her nest box now so I ended up giving her some more.

Yeah, I keep giving it to them until they quit ... it seems to give them something to do.

Well their here. Their was 10 born early morning on the 27th. Really hoping they all make it but we shall see though. Mother is VERY protective over her first litter but once I give her some goodies she is fine. Have a few pics of the nest box and the crew...

they look normal sized for 10 days early. Any chance of an error in dates??

Even kits born three days early have a small look about them.. these kits look too nice for 10 days early.

Nope. Bred her jan 27th and she ended up having them feb 27th. If I counted right that makes it a total of 31 days. They are all warmed and wiggle like crazy when a hand gets close to them. Really hope they all survive but we shall she. She is being a good momma so far so just maybe they will all live...

so they were right on time...I thought you said they were born 10 days early? okay... misread your statement... you said 10 born early..and I missed the morning part. :) oops... sorry.

Aww, nekkid baby bunny photos!! Good job on building a great nest and a gracious plenty of fur pulled! That doe is a keeper for sure! :p

Yeah she is turning out to be a really good mother. Every time I go check the kits she has to double check them after I do. I double checked to see how many she had and turns out that she ended up having 11 little kits.

Here is a pic of all the kits.

Unfortunately I went out today to check on the kits and found 2 of them outside of the next box chilled :(

Was really hoping that all 11 would of survived...
