My Jersey Wooly Shadow gave birth today. The litter wasn't due until June 3rd so they are a week early. I can only make out one kit out of the blobs, it's dead.
Shadow seems okay. Has her appetite but seems to be looking for the kit. I will keep checking on her.
I took a picture of the nesting box.

You can see the kit and the nearest blob I believe is placenta. Not sure about the other blobs.
Should I clean the nesting box and put it back in with her? Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this?

I had a doe abort her litter last week. She was due for a nestbox yesterday, but had a few kits on the 23rd. They were very small- maybe 1/3 the size of newborn kits.

I assumed it was due to the weather being so warm. If you have had a recent spike in temperature that could be the reason.

I did go ahead and put a nest in with my doe just in case it was a partial abortion. So far she hasn't delivered any more or shown any signs that she will, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Sorry you lost the kits. :(

It hasn't been suddenly hot but it has been a bit humid and raining every night.
