I will see if I can find the pict of the self chin.

Here are some general rules-

It came from a chin to chin breeding, if not, then it might not be a self chin

The eyes are mottled blue-gray

The foot pads are more noticeably gray than black

The last is hard to tell, but the first two are pretty good indicators.

These kits are a week old, so no foot pads yet. This is the result of a Chin x Lynx breeding (doe was bred when I bought her.) There are 2 castors, what I suspect is an opal, 1 that appears to be black, and 2 that appear to be self chin. Next to the black they are clearly off-black, but definitely not light enough to be chocolate. If I didn't have the black kit in there for comparison I wouldn't be sure they're not black. The lynx doe's sire is listed as black, dam is REW. The Chin she was bred to didn't have a pedigree, so no background on him.

Sounds right for self chin, but side by side, there would be no fur color difference once it furs out. Somewhere on the forum I posed the self chin kit in one of my chin litters, born sometime in June. The eye color was my first indicator.
