strange, i was expecting the cali girl to go as i saw her moving hay around and pulled fur, so i figured 2 days ago id have kits... nothin.... Yesterday i check that corner and its stashed with hay and i could feel some fur, but it wasnt well constructed... today i go up to check on lambs and i just poked around the nest places and found where the cali doe had started a nest, now there is grey fur too? and i see 2 uncovered kits rolling around, the fur was scattered so i picked em up on is a light grey/pink, the other is black... i think to myself "2?" then i start to leave but before i do i start feeling deeper around and i found 1 cold black one... who is now in my pants lol, i dont think its coming back though :(

Heres the strange part... I suspect its the dutch girl, as these are BIG kits and theres only 3 and she is blue and white, and a new mom, i found a squashed nest in a bad spot before that had a similar story, larger kits, dark in skin color, just a few, but when i found them it was way too late and the other bunnies had squashed them, she put her nest in a high traffic hiding place :? this nest is similar but on the way other side an i noticed the other does not hiding in there anymore, so someone has taken control..... sounds easy right?

wrong... the chin doe has taken a keen interest in this nest and its inhabitants, her last litter did not have dark skinned kits either, and it was much larger but after i replaced the nest BOTH her and the dutch came over sniffing and searching, and she did that yesterday too when i felt around in there, came over and checked me out, then stomped her feet and darted into a hiding place....

I WISH this doe had used the boxes I provided for a nest... its designed to be safer, and less likely for a chilled kit like i have in my lap... rawr...

well i grabbed up the 2 suspects and it is my chin  3 kits? thats it? shes being a great mom and this time when i checked them they were FULL and round, VERY well fed... her last litter was 7... and now she will only be raising up 2... but shes very very milky right now... i have a first timer going to go any day, so maybe she will have too many and ill foster over :/

bummer

so move those kits into a nestbox. Put it in the same location. Doe should continue to take care of them just fine.

no, she caring for them just fine where they are, it is in an enclosed area, just not where i would have picked
