I’m feeling pretty satisfied since I spent several hours this morning harvesting nettle along our creek. It was an overcast morning so it was cool and it was so pleasant to be working along the water and keeping an eye on the lambs and the geese that were grazing nearby. The geese were very entertaining because they would come over to the pile that I was making on a big bed sheet on the ground and appear to be chatting with each other over the harvest. They never really touched it but did seem really interested. :cheerleader:
When I got it back to the barn I gathered it into bunches of about 32 stalks each and after rubber banding it I hung it from hooks I have hanging from the roof in an area I have designated as my “herb drying area.” I calculated that I have over 400 stalks of nettle. It’s especially satisfying because I have been feeding the 8 does that kindled a week ago one stalk each in the morning when I check their nest boxes and give them their morning oats & BOSS. Almost all the kits seem very fat, even the does with 10 kits, so I think the nettle is helping. It looks like I’ll have plenty to keep using it for them and the next batch too.
